Greetings from Jacob’s Well!
We awoke much refreshed after a good night’s sleep to the soothing sound of rain here in Haiti. It is extremely wet, but the Lord allowed the rain to subside during the outdoor activities. And for that we are so grateful! Thank you for your prayers for this specific request. Please continue, as rain remains in the forecast for at least two more days.
While American teams have good gear and are prepared for rain, most Haitian villagers do not. It is commendable that so many children braved the threatening weather. Kids walked to the ministry center from Tse Guinea and four other surrounding villages to participate in faith, fun, friends, and FOOD at Jacob’s Well. Today, the children began memorizing Psalm 139:7-10, shot BB guns and arrows at targets, made bracelets and necklaces with colorful beads, and played “nine square in the air” and soccer. Afterwards, they had a delicious meat sauce and pasta meal followed by a snack bag at the gate. We pray for continued fruitful time over the next two days for the Haitian counselors to convey the truths of God’s Word through teaching, Bible drama and song. Today, we served 165 campers, down from the 250 we anticipated, due most likely to the weather. In Tse Guinea, children do not even go to school during the rainy season. So it was a really big deal that so many came to camp anyway!
The team is well, working in unity, and being fed like kings (AND faithfully taking malarial meds). It is a joy to serve alongside young people who desire to serve the Lord by serving children, particularly in this cross-cultural setting. How blessed are the feet of those who bring Good News.
God bless you all and thank you for your continued prayer for our team. Please don’t forget to lift up our Haitian friends and co-laborers and the children to whom we are ministering.
Bon Nwit,
Haiti 15 Team
