Pit Ball (formerly known as “Gaga”) is a fast-paced, fun and addicting game! Best described as “dodge-ball in a box” campers (and staff) love to play! We haven’t tested this theory, but based on how much time campers spend playing Pit Ball, we think we could give them a ball and a pit, and they’d be happy just playing Pit Ball all week.
On hot summer afternoons the swimming pool is the popular place to be! With a rock ledge jump, water climbing wall, water basketball goal, slide, and rolling log, there is plenty to do while getting wet and having fun! Campers love to swim and parents can rest easy knowing they are supervised by lifeguards at all times.
Water Weenie & Tube Rides
Offered only during Bonus Activity Time, the water-weenie and tube rides are camper favorites. Since they’re so popular we limit campers to one or the other during the first couple of days at camp. Campers wear lifejackets and helmets at all times while riding but you better hang on tight because they won’t keep you from falling off!
Whether you’re in Horsemanship class or not, everyone is welcome to join a trail ride during Bonus Activity Time. These half hour rides around camp require no previous riding experience and are a great camp activity! And don’t forget to check back on Friday for the adventure trail rides, where you might stumble across bandits or outlaws!
Frontier Camp has many adventure elements including a giant swing, a climbing wall, a high ropes course with double zip line and a junkyard leap. One of these elements will be open during Bonus Activity Time every day, but, depending on scheduling, we can’t guarantee every element will open. If you want to do all the elements take Adventure Challenge.
Our large Athletic Field is host to a variety of games throughout the week. From football to ultimate frisbee, or a quick soccer game before lunch, there’s almost always something happening on the field. And on Friday afternoons we turn the Athletic Field in to a baseball field for our weekly game.
Whether you’re hanging out during Bonus Activity Time or relaxing during Trading Post, the gym is always a fun place to be. With basketball courts, Pit Ball, four-square and nine-square-in-the-air, you won’t be bored in the gym. Guy counselors especially love to take on challengers in the games!
Baseball inside?! The only place it is OK to hit a ball inside is at camp! One of the most popular activities at camp, whiffle ball is played in the chapel during Bonus Activity Time. Similar to baseball in many ways, there are some differences (you can “peg” someone out!) but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of it. Come swing for the fences, er, the sound booth, with us in whiffle ball!
Using their Trading Post (TP) account campers can make purchases in the FC General Store. We keep the store stocked with shirts, hats, flashlights, water bottles, bandanas and more so everybody is sure to find at least one thing they like there! In addition to being open on Sundays and Saturdays, and during Bonus Activity Time during the week, every cabin visits the store one time together during the week so every camper is guaranteed a time to shop at the General Store if desired.
