Swimming Pool Update

By May 19, 2017March 5th, 2019No Comments

After last summer’s tragedy, the Staff and Board made the decision to cease swimming in Houston County Lake and to build a swimming pool. However, it was additionally decided that we would honor Hudson’s memory by not having a broad campaign. Instead, one letter was written to David Weekley, a homebuilder and friend of Christian camping. David had heard about the tragedy and immediately stepped up to help by issuing a $200,000 matching challenge to our Board of Directors. The FC Board accepted and met the challenge through personal giving, friend-raising and talking to a small core of current camp donors. A few months later and we have a pool.

Campers and their families have responded. Prior to announcing the pool, we were 20% behind in camper registrations compared to this time last year. Since the announcement, we are now just 8% behind and continuing to gain ground. God is faithful. He is preparing us for a great harvest this summer. Please be praying for all aspects of the camp ministry this summer.
